photo creditsI've been so many places, seen so many things, but none quite as lovely as you, more beautiful than the Mona Lisa, worth more than gold that my eyes have the pleasure to behold, you're my latest and my greatest, my latest, greatest inspiration...
So sad to report that one of the greatest of all time, Teddy P., passed away last night of colon cancer at the early age of 59.
The singer's son, Teddy Pendergrass II told the Philadelphia Inquirer that his father underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and had "a very difficult recovery."
Pendergrass crashed his Rolls-Royce in Philadelphia in 1982 and was left paralyzed from the waist down. He continued his singing career the following year with the album "Love Language" and proceeded to return to the stage by performing from his wheelchair at the Live Aid concert in 1985.
He started the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance in 1998 to benefit victims of spinal cord injuries.
