never forget, though, is the man who has loved me, quite perfectly, since the moment we met. He's not perfect - none of us are - and he belongs to the world like many of us do...but he's constant, he's caring, and the love we share is unconditional. For nearly 7 years, every time I acquire a new deal, he buys me a new pen to sign it. He says it's new ink for new money and I love our little tradition. Of all the things he has bought me over the years, these pens mean the most because they celebrate my self-sufficiency...my ability to create a life for myself apart from him and his. Still, I am careful to never claim to be independent, for there is no one on the planet who is independent of another. I need him, absolutely - just not for everything. Here's to new successes and to self sufficiency for all women so that we make ourselves worthy of the accolades we demand from men.
